FAQs

I don’t know what to expect!

When you register with Elevate My Ultra, you will receive a confirmation email (check your Inbox and Spam Folder for this!) within 24 hours.

At the beginning of the week before Camp, we will send out the final details, including a recommended packing list, full itinerary, weather report and any last minute updates.

On the first day of camp, we will meet at the house by noon to settle into our rooms. There will be a quick meet-n-greet and an overview of the route for the day before we head out on our adventure.

How fit do I need to be?

Great question! We will cover 27 miles of rugged Central Pennsylvania terrain over the course of three days. The first day will be over seven-and-a-half miles. Day 2 is a 14 mile run, followed by a little over five miles on the last day. The average elevation gain over the three days is 233 feet per mile. That said, we will have two course leaders out with the group and expect a variety of paces. As long as you can cover those distances, you will be fine. We run at a sociable pace with plenty of hiking (i.e. the uphills!), and stops along the way for snacking, photo ops and info sharing.

What do I need to pack?

We recommend bringing layers. The weather can be unpredictable in this region! Much like an ultramarathon, we plan to run each day no matter the weather (don’t worry - safety is our number one priority and we will not go out if conditions are beyond what is reasonably safe!). We will send a weather forecast in the week leading up to the camp, but plan to bring gear that can help you stay comfortable in potentially rainy and/or cold conditions. Additionally, we recommend a hydration vest or handheld bottle as well as a water filter and your preferred nutrition. Trails shoes are highly recommended as the trails here are often rocky, slippery and can be muddy.  Additional clothes for relaxing around the house and for sleeping are also suggested.

Breakfast, dinner and a light lunch will be provided each day. If you would like to bring additional food or snacks, please do! Alcohol will not be provided at this event, but those that would like are welcome to bring their own.

I don’t have transportation to Eagles Mere. Can I still come along?

If this is an issue, please reach out to us! Eagles Mere is a bit remote and not easily accessible by public transportation. We encourage carpooling and will try our best to help find you a ride if you do not have your own transportation.

Is there an age limit?

No! However, we are not certified to guide anyone under the age of 18 without a parent present.

How can we help reduce our impact on the environment?

We follow strict leave no trace policies throughout the weekend. We will be sure to carry all of our trash out of the park, will avoid any interference with wildlife and leave everything as undisturbed as possible. If you’re unsure about guidelines and best practices around leave no trace, please get in touch – we’re happy to advise! We also encourage carpooling to the event where possible. We will shuttle everyone to and from the trails each day.

Cancellation, Transfer and Refund policy?

If you cancel your booking more than 4 weeks before the camp, we will refund the full cost of the camp minus the $15 deposit. If you cancel before 1 week within the start date, we will refund 50% of the remaining course balance once the deposit is taken. If you cancel less than 1 week from the start of your course we are unable to offer any refund.

At this time we are unable to offer transfers to another camp. However, if you are able to find someone to take your place, we are willing to accommodate that option. At any point you may transfer your booking to another person if you cannot attend yourself. Contact us to arrange the transfer by giving us the name and contact details of the new attendee.
